Using the BOSU to strengthen your core

The BOSU balance trainer is a great tool for strengthening the entire body.  BOSU stands for BOth Sides Up, meaning you can use it on either side for a great workout.  Adding a BOSU to your core workouts is a great way to develop a strong, stable power center and create a functionally fit body.  Here are two exercises that are sure to make your core stronger and give you a great burn!

BOSU Exercise for Toned Abs – Video.

Lie on BOSU with lower and mid-back centered on ball.  Slowly bring both knees to your chest.  Position your hands behind your head, with your elbows pointed out to the sides.  Maintain balance as you slowly bring your left shoulder toward right knee and straighten out your left leg in front of you.  Pause for a moment, then slowly begin to switch sides.

Remember: If your back hurts during these exercises, your abdominals are either too fatigued or too weak to do these properly.  If repositioning and focusing on engaging the abdominal muscles doesn’t help the back pain go away, stop doing the exercise!
