Exercise and your Immune System
A study published in the November 2010 issue of the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that individuals who exercised 5 times a week or more experienced significantly less (43%) upper respiratory tract infections (URTI) than those who exercised less often. Frequent exercisers who did get sick reported much less severity of their symptoms. The authors of the study stated that, “Perceived physical fitness and frequency of aerobic exercise are important correlates of reduced days with URTI and severity of symptoms during the winter and fall common cold seasons. ”
One more reason to make sure you schedule your workout into your day at least 5 days a week!
