Breast Cancer linked to Parabens

A comprehensive study published in the January 2012 issue of the Journal of Applied Technology shows more evidence of a correlation between parabens and incidences of breast cancer.

Titled “Measurement of paraben concentrations in human breast tissue at serial locations across the breast from axilla to sternum,” the team of researchers led by Dr Philippa Darbre from the University of Reading in the UK, found that 99 percent of the tissue samples collected from women participating in the study contained at least one paraben, and 60 percent of the samples contained no less than five parabens.

Parabens are chemicals used as a preservative in a number of cosmetics and personal care products including deodorant, shampoo, makeup, lotions and oral care products, as well as in processed food items and some pharmaceutical products.

Underarm deodorants often contain parabens and have been thought to contribute to an increased risk of high paraben levels in the body that have been linked to breast cancer. But according to Darbre’s team, even women who did not use underarm deodorant were found to have parabens present in breast tissue.

The estrogen-mimicking properties of most parabens are believed to be a factor responsible for the rising cases of breast cancer. The prevalence of the number of types of paraben toxins found in the human body, however, make it difficult for researchers to conclude which of the preservatives are most likely the causal agents, but many speculate that parabens commonly found in underarm antiperspirants and deodorants can easily move into breast tissue and may result in tumors.

Every one of Arbonne’s cosmetics and personal care products are free of harmful products, including parabens.  In fact, the reason Arbonne cosmetics and skin care products can’t be sold in stores is due to strict regulations mandating a 5-7 year shelf life for these products to be sold in stores.  The amount of preservatives necessary to maintain a 5-7 year shelf life goes against Arbonne’s policy to be pure, safe, and beneficial.

Time for a Tea Party

Finally!!! We have been waiting too long for this!  Arbonne has finally brought back their delicious Herbal Detox Tea.  This decaffeinated herbal tea is made with 9 botanicals that support the liver and kidneys.  It is just one of the detox tools I use in the 28 Days to Health anti-inflammatory cleanse because you can’t cleanse unless you’ve detoxed first.  This tea is by far the best tasting tea I’ve ever tried, needing no sweetener at all.  I ALWAYS sweeten my tea with honey, but not this one, totally unnecessary!  And the sweetest part of all- it comes in an earth friendly bag.  Good for your body, good for our environment!  Click here to get your tea and let’s have a tea party 🙂

Omega-3 Plus

Last year I wrote a post called “What you should know about essential fatty acids” describing why it is so important that we are consuming enough omega 3’s.  In a nutshell, omega 3’s are known for their anti-inflammatory properties and are linked with preventing and treating heart disease, strokes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, depression/bipolar disorder, Alzheimer’s, ADHD, asthma, and breast, colon, and prostate cancers.

For people like myself, who don’t like fish, we must get the required amount of omega 3’s from supplements.  These days, there is so much pollution in the oceans (mercury, oil spills, toxic radiation) that I’ve even given up fish oil supplements. There’s just no way to know where that fish oil comes from or how toxic it may be.

Arbonne’s Omega-3 Plus is what I have started using to ensure I get my omega 3 fatty acids.  These vegan capsules (gelatin capsules cannot be digested keeping you from absorbing any of the supplement) are gluten free.  They contain a proprietary blend of flax, chia, perilla, black raspberry, pomegranate, and pumpkin seed oils.  Two capsules provide 1000mg of omega 3 fatty acids.

Lance Armstrong endorses Arbonne protein shakes

Did you hear the news?  Lance Armstrong is recommending Arbonne protein shakes on his livestrong website.  This doesn’t really surprise me.  A while back the Armstrong racing team went gluten free and noticed a dramatic improvement in the way they felt, as well as in their athletic performance.  Arbonne products are all gluten free, toxin free, and high quality.  For more information on these great products, go to

Cleanse Challenge 2011-Halftime stats

We are now half way through Cleanse challenge 2011 and I am so thrilled to be hearing nothing but positive feedback!  After just one week participants were shocked at how great they felt, even the most skeptical.  One e-mail stated,

“…my energy is great and very even.  I am stunned.  Just told my friend that aside from the digestive adjustment I feel about 10 years younger.”

Comments have ranged from, “it’s so much easier to stay on than I thought it would be,”  “the recipes are delicious!”, “no more mood swings, especially during my period,” “you weren’t lying, I feel the best I have in years,” “I’m sleeping so much better,” and “my skin is so much clearer.”

Today I received an e-mail updating me on how this participant is doing.  She wrote,

“A few things that I LOVE……flat stomach, NO BURPING!!, less mood swings, clear skin and feeling great.  I truly believe that by eliminating the gluten/wheat and diary that my body is MUCH happier.  My digestive tract is working like never before and I do not feel hungry or have cravings.  The shakes are so sweet  so I don’t crave sugar at all.  I don’t know which factors are contributing to my skin but I think it is a combination of it all.  I only had one pimple on my period…..a total miracle.  I think these are the main factors that are helping my skin: diary and gluten elimination, Arbonne acne skin care products (love them).”

And last, but certainly not least, is the progressive weight loss.  So far, the biggest loser (I just had to say that) is 15 pounds in 2 weeks.  Nice job!

All 12 participants have been doing such a great job sticking to the program and their family and friends have gotten very interested!  This program has been so successful and I am being asked to hold another 28 day cleanse challenge.  Be on the lookout for information coming your way for the February 2011 Cleanse Challenge!

“Officially” hooked on Arbonne

For those of you who have been following my blog, you know I have been taking part in a 28 day anti-inflammatory, detox cleanse.  My experience with this cleanse has far exceeded my expectations!  I have a continuous flow of energy all day long and, at night, I am having the best quality sleep that I’ve had in years.  My chronic injuries are no longer causing me pain.  Overall, I feel absolutely amazing.

The nutritional products used on this cleanse are manufactured and sold through the Arbonne company.  Even though I still have a few more days left on my cleanse, I have been so impressed with the products and this entire nutritional program, that I jumped at the chance to become an Arbonne consultant.  I am proud to put my name behind this company.   Arbonne has been around for 17 years and is known for their natural, botanical line of skin care and cosmetics.  Their health and weight loss products have proven themselves to be as natural and “clean” as the rest of their line.

I have been having fun learning about their skin care products as well, and am pleased to find their products have been great for my extremely sensitive skin.

If you are interested in this incredible nutritional program or the Arbonne line of products, please feel free to contact me!
